Scouting Report: Elis Barreat
Chicago Cubs | 2B
Overall
Summary
Jordan Westburg underwent Tommy John surgery (ligament-reconstructive procedure) on his right elbow in May 2026 and will miss the entire 2026 season. The injury stems from a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament discovered during spring training. After initially attempting conservative treatment with a platelet-rich plasma injection in February, Westburg's condition worsened when he increased throwing intensity, leading to the decision for surgery. The Orioles hope for his availability early in 2027. This represents the most serious point in Westburg's injury history, following a spring training oblique injury and previous durability concerns.
Strengths
- Surgery performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache
- Orioles organization remains committed to Westburg's recovery
