Scouting Report: Daniel Hudson
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Hunter Harvey, Cubs right-hander, has suffered a setback in his recovery from triceps inflammation. An MRI revealed a stress reaction in his triceps area. Harvey has already missed over a month of action since his last game on April 8. He was initially placed on the 15-day IL on April 9 and is expected to miss at least another month. Manager Craig Counsell indicated Harvey will likely be moved to the 60-day IL. This continues a career pattern of frequent injuries for Harvey, who has only pitched 189 innings over 186 games since his 2019 debut. In 2025, he missed significant time with a teres major strain and Grade 2 adductor strain. The Cubs signed Harvey to a one-year, $6.5MM deal, but he posted a 6.75 ERA over four innings before the triceps issue emerged. When healthy, Harvey has shown solid results with a 3.07 ERA, 27.4% strikeout rate, and 6.5% walk rate from 2022-25.
Strengths
- Solid career ERA of 3.07 when healthy (2022-25)
- Strong strikeout rate of 27.4%
