Francisco Alvarez, New York Mets catcher, suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks recovering from the injury. Surgery is planned as soon as possible.
