Scouting Report: Caleb Berry

Chicago Cubs | C

B

Overall

IL-10

Summary

Cal Raleigh, Seattle Mariners catcher, has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. The injury was initially sustained earlier in May and reaggravated during a game in Houston on May 14, 2026. MRI imaging showed the injury was "similar or slightly improved" from previous scans. The Mariners are optimistic about his recovery timeline and do not anticipate a lengthy absence. Raleigh will receive a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection and will be shut down for approximately one week before resuming baseball activities on a week-to-week basis. This is Raleigh's first career IL placement. The injury is complicated by his switch-hitting status, which may affect his recovery timeline.

Strengths

  • Optimistic team outlook - GM stated no lengthy absence expected
  • MRI imaging showed injury similar or slightly improved from previous scans
