Scouting Report: Blake Whitney
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Blake Snell, the Dodgers' two-time Cy Young Award winner, has been sidelined indefinitely with loose bodies in his left elbow requiring surgery. This is the third injury placement since signing a five-year, $182 million contract with Los Angeles in November 2024. Snell missed the first six weeks of the 2026 season with left shoulder fatigue and inflammation before making his season debut on May 17. He allowed four earned runs over three innings in that start against Atlanta. He was scratched from his second start on May 21 after feeling something in the back of his elbow during catch play. Manager Dave Roberts indicated Snell will likely miss significant time and surgery is probable. In 2025, Snell made just 11 regular season starts due to shoulder injury but posted a 2.35 ERA and 2.69 FIP in 61.1 innings, with strong postseason performance (3-2 record, 6 appearances) as the Dodgers won the World Series.
Strengths
