Scouting Report: Alec Barger
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Addison Barger, 26-year-old left-handed slugger for the Toronto Blue Jays, has had a disastrous 2026 season marked by multiple injuries. After missing 29 games with bilateral ankle injuries (left ankle sprain), he returned on May 9, 2026, and made an immediate impact with a 101.2 mph throw to the plate for a double play. However, he developed right elbow inflammation the following day and was placed back on the 10-day IL. MRI revealed no structural damage, and he received a cortisone injection. Barger started the season 1-for-19 with a .045 batting average and .305 OPS in 28 plate appearances before the injury. In 2025, he was a breakout performer with 21 home runs, 74 RBIs, .243 batting average, and .756 OPS across 135 games, playing a key role in the Blue Jays' World Series run.
Strengths
