Willson Contreras suffered a right hand contusion from a 94-mph sinker by Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Nick Martinez on Sunday. X-rays came back negative. He was held out of Tuesday's lineup against Philadelphia but showed improvement by Wednesday, hitting in the cage and taking batting practice. Manager Chad Tracy expressed optimism about his return, noting he was "doing a lot better" and expected to be available for Wednesday's game.
