Scouting Report: Tanner Houck

Boston Red Sox | SP

B

Overall

IL-60

Summary

Tanner Houck is recovering from hybrid reconstruction of his right UCL with flexor tendon repair performed in August 2025. As of mid-May 2026, he is progressing through his throwing program, making 75 throws out to 105 feet three days per week and 30 throws at 60 feet on alternate days while incorporating changeups. The Red Sox are targeting late June for mound work to begin, with potential for simulated games in July and a rehab stint thereafter. However, it remains uncertain whether Houck will pitch for Boston at all in 2026. He previously had an All-Star season in 2024 but struggled with an 8.04 ERA in nine starts during 2025 before the injury.

Strengths

  • Steady progression through throwing program
