Scouting Report: Garrett Whitlock
Boston Red Sox | RP
Overall
Summary
Garrett Crochet, Boston Red Sox ace, was placed on the injured list on April 29 with left shoulder inflammation. The injury was attributed to bad mechanics that compromised his shoulder. As of late May, Crochet completed a 20-pitch bullpen session (his first since the injury) and is progressing through rehabilitation. He plans to take a longer two-inning bullpen session, followed by facing live batters before returning to the rotation. Crochet is hoping to skip a minor league rehab assignment and return directly to the majors. His return timeline remains uncertain, with manager Chad Tracy indicating it is "not imminent." Crochet has not pitched in a game since April 25.
Strengths
- Completed first bullpen session since injury (20 pitches)
- Catch on flat ground extended past 100 feet
