Luis De Leon is a 37-year-old veteran catcher who was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a free agent to replace injured catcher Sean Murphy. León had been playing in the independent Mexican League (Saraperos de Saltillo) after being released by the Braves on April 22, 2026. He previously played five games for the Braves in 2025, his only MLB action since 2023. He will serve as a backup catcher to Drake Baldwin while Murphy recovers from a fractured left middle finger that will sideline him for approximately eight weeks.
