Scouting Report: Jackson Holliday
Baltimore Orioles | 2B
Overall
Summary
Jackson Holliday, the 2022 first overall pick, has missed nearly the entire 2026 season (48 games) due to a right hamate bone fracture suffered in February during spring training. After undergoing surgery on February 12, he experienced multiple setbacks during three separate rehab assignments, including renewed soreness that forced him off the assignment twice. He struggled at the minor league level, hitting .176/.250/.235 in 14 games. However, he was recently activated off the 10-day injured list and returned to the Orioles' lineup in late May. Holliday reported his hand still has some discomfort but stated it is "completely normal" and should eventually subside. The organization is also working on developing his versatility by giving him reps at third base during rehab, though he remains primarily a second baseman. In 2025, his first full MLB season, he slashed .242/.314/.375 with 17 homers and 55 RBIs in 149 games, though his defensive metrics were poor (-10 DRS, -8 OAA at second base).
Strengths
- Recently activated off injured list after lengthy recovery
- Former first overall pick with high prospect pedigree
