Gleyber Torres, 29-year-old Tigers second baseman, was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mild left oblique strain on May 6, 2026 (retroactive to May 4). Torres left Saturday's game against Texas in the fourth inning after experiencing left side tightness. This is the second time Torres has dealt with a left oblique issue, having missed time last season with the same injury. The timing is particularly problematic for Detroit, which is already dealing with multiple infield injuries including Trey Sweeney (shoulder), Javier Báez (ankle sprain), and recent returns of Zach McKinstry.
