Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Matt Waldron, right-handed pitcher for the San Diego Padres, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 16, 2026, due to a right brachialis muscle injury (forearm). This is his second stint on the 15-day IL this season, having previously missed the first three weeks with a lower body injury. Waldron was initially designated for assignment before being placed on the IL. He had been pitching on short rest and experienced unusual stiffness and soreness following his last appearance on May 15, where he pitched two scoreless relief innings with 4 strikeouts. His 2026 season performance has been poor, posting an 8.49 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 23 1/3 innings. Alek Jacob was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding roster move.
