Scouting Report
Updated May 20, 2026
Cubs right-hander Hunter Harvey suffered a setback in his recovery from triceps inflammation, with an MRI revealing a stress reaction in his triceps area. Harvey has already missed over a month of action since his last game on April 8. He was initially placed on the 15-day IL on April 9 and is expected to be moved to the 60-day IL. Manager Craig Counsell indicated Harvey will be out for at least another month. This continues a troubling pattern for Harvey, whose career has been defined by injuries. In 2025, he missed significant time with a teres major strain and Grade 2 adductor strain. The Cubs signed Harvey to a one-year, $6.5MM free agent deal, but he posted a 6.75 ERA over four innings before the triceps issue emerged.
