Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Josh Smith, Texas Rangers second baseman, was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 4 with a right glute strain. While recovering, he developed wrist inflammation during his ramp-up period. Smith has struggled significantly this season, slashing .217/.324/.239 in his first 31 games with an OPS of .563. He was 5-for-9 in the Detroit series but had already lost playing time to Ezequiel Duran before the injury. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker indicated the wrist inflammation should sideline him for only a couple of days, with Smith eligible for activation on Thursday.
