Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
River Ryan, 27-year-old right-handed pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, is making his return from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for over a month. He made his rehab start on May 16, 2026 for Triple-A Oklahoma City, throwing 4 innings with 1 run allowed on 2 hits, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts on 53 pitches. Ryan is a top prospect with impressive 2024 MLB credentials (1.33 ERA, 18 K's in 20.1 IP across 4 starts). He spent spring training 2026 looking sharp (1.86 ERA in 9.2 IP) and added 30 pounds of muscle to his frame. The Dodgers are carefully managing his workload and innings as he continues his recovery path. There is a "slim possibility" he could join the MLB rotation if needed, but a second-half call-up appears more likely.
Injury Status: day-to-day -- Hamstring injury - missed more than a month (April 11 - May 16, 2026). Recently returned to Triple-A action on May 16, throwing 53 pitches over 4 innings. Previously underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2024 and missed all of 2025 recovering.
