Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Ryan Helsley, Baltimore Orioles closer, is recovering from right elbow inflammation and has been on the injured list since May 1, 2026. He initially went on the family emergency medical list before being placed on the 15-day IL. Helsley has not pitched since April 28. Medical scans and doctor reviews have been encouraging with no ligament damage detected. He is currently not cleared to throw but has been running and working out. He is responding well to anti-inflammatory medication and expects to begin a weighted ball throwing program in the coming days. Helsley anticipates a late-May return and will likely require a rehab assignment before returning to action. Prior to injury, he posted a 2.53 ERA with 7 saves in 12 appearances. Rico Garcia has taken over closer duties in his absence.
