Hunter Greene, the Cincinnati Reds' ace and former 2nd overall pick (2017), underwent right elbow surgery in March 2026 to remove bone chips. As of mid-May, he is making steady progress in his rehabilitation. He has progressed to 150-foot long toss throws in Arizona and is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session on May 26, with plans to rejoin the team on May 29 for continued rehab assignments. He is expected to return to the Reds' rotation in the second half of the season, likely July. In 2025, Greene pitched 19 starts with a 7-4 record, 2.76 ERA, and 0.94 WHIP. Career stats (2022-2025): 25-29 record, 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP over 91 starts. The Reds' pitching staff has struggled significantly in his absence, ranking 27th in team ERA.
