Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Rhett Lowder, Cincinnati Reds RHP, placed on 15-day IL with right shoulder discomfort (AC joint). MRI showed no structural damage. Lowder exited May 7 start vs Cubs after 3 innings with shoulder issues. Received AC joint injection. Manager Terry Francona emphasized this is precautionary to prevent long-term issues, not a band-aid solution. Lowder can continue throwing but not off mound initially. This comes after Lowder missed all of 2025 with forearm and oblique injuries. In 2026, he posted 3.52 ERA in 14 career starts but recent performance has declined (5.40 ERA in 8 starts this season, including poor outings vs Pirates and Cubs).
