Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Zach McKinstry was activated from the injured list after sustaining a Grade 3 oblique tear off the pelvic bone on April 15 during multiple collisions with Jac Caglianone. Despite the severity of the injury (typically 6-8 weeks recovery), McKinstry recovered faster than expected and returned to the lineup. He replaces Zack Short, who was designated for assignment. McKinstry is coming off an All-Star 2025 season with a .771 OPS and is expected to provide significant offensive contributions to the Tigers' lineup as they compete with the Cleveland Guardians.
