Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Joe Ryan, 29-year-old Minnesota Twins right-hander, exited his start against Toronto on May 3 after just 9 pitches due to elbow soreness. MRI imaging revealed no structural damage. Ryan has progressed well through recovery: played catch on May 5, threw a successful bullpen session on May 6 with good velocity and offspeed stuff, and is on track to make his next scheduled start on May 10 at Cleveland. Ryan is the Twins' ace following Pablo Lopez's Tommy John surgery and has been one of the steadier pitchers in the AL since 2021 with a 3.79 ERA, 27.5% strikeout rate, and excellent 5.7% walk rate across 123 appearances.
