Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Joe Ryan, the Minnesota Twins' Opening Day starter and 2024 All-Star, exited his start on May 3 after just 9 pitches due to right elbow soreness. An MRI revealed no structural damage, which was excellent news for the organization. Ryan has since played catch without incident and threw a successful bullpen session on May 6, with good velocity and effective offspeed pitches. He is on track to make his next scheduled start on Saturday at Cleveland. This represents a best-case scenario after an initial scare, as the Twins are already dealing with significant rotation injuries including Pablo Lopez's Tommy John surgery.
