Updated May 19, 2026
Nick Lodolo, a 28-year-old left-handed pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, made his 2026 season debut on May 8 after being sidelined by a blister on his left index finger. Coming off a career-best 2025 season (156.2 IP, 3.33 ERA, 5.03 K/BB ratio, 4.7 bWAR), Lodolo was activated from the injured list to bolster a struggling Reds pitching staff. In his debut, he pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 78 pitches in a 10-0 loss to the Houston Astros. He allowed 2 home runs in the game. Manager Terry Francona rates him as one of the best pitchers in baseball. Lodolo is working through rust after missing time and will need to build back into a regular five-day rotation schedule.
