Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Max Fried, 32-year-old Yankees ace, was removed from his start on May 14, 2026 after 3 innings due to left elbow posterior soreness. MRI and CT scans revealed a bone bruise. He was placed on the 15-day IL. Dr. Neal Elattrache reviewed imaging for due diligence, but Fried's UCL is intact and surgery is not required. Timeline for return is uncertain pending further testing in a few weeks or when asymptomatic. Fried leads MLB with 61.2 innings pitched and has shown control issues this season with walk rate climbing to 7.9% from 6.4% last year.
