Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Kade Anderson, the Mariners' No. 1 pitching prospect and 3rd overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft, has dominated Double-A Arkansas in his first professional season. The 21-year-old LSU product was college baseball's best pitcher in 2025 (12-1, 3.18 ERA, 180 strikeouts). In his first month of professional play, Anderson posted a 0.37 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 24.1 innings across five starts, earning Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April. He features four plus pitches (mid-90s fastball, wipeout slider, mid-80s changeup, and merciless curve) with excellent command and location. After one rough outing on May 15 (5 ER in 4 IP), his ERA rose to 1.85 through 34 innings with 51 strikeouts and only 5 walks. The Mariners have no urgency to promote him despite roster struggles, preferring to let him develop without a fixed timeline.
