Juan Daniel Encarnacion

Jerar Encarnacion, 28-year-old outfielder, was designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants on May 4, 2026, after struggling significantly at the plate. Over parts of three seasons with the Giants (2024-2026), Encarnacion posted a .176 batting average with a .406 OPS in 35 plate appearances during 2026. He accumulated just 6 hits, 1 double, 0 home runs, and 0 RBIs over 34 at-bats with a .200 OBP and .206 slugging percentage. Across his entire Giants tenure, he managed a .619 OPS with 7 home runs in 19 major league games. Despite an impressive stint in the Mexican League (19 HRs, .366 BA, 1.428 OPS in 107 PAs), he failed to translate that success to MLB. Encarnacion cleared waivers and elected free agency on May 10, 2026. He has drawn interest from several MLB teams and three NPB teams in Japan.
