Josh Smith, Texas Rangers second baseman, is currently hospitalized with viral meningitis after being placed on the 10-day IL on May 4 with a right glute strain. He subsequently developed left wrist inflammation during rehab. Smith has struggled significantly at the plate, hitting .217 with no home runs and 6 RBIs in 31 games before his hospitalization.
