Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
José Berríos, Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher, has been dealing with persistent elbow injuries since late 2025. He suffered a stress fracture in his throwing elbow discovered during World Baseball Classic intake physicals in mid-March 2026. An MRI revealed inflammation and "small changes" to the initial injury, with possible loose bodies in the elbow. Surgery is being considered as a treatment option. Berríos has not pitched in the majors in 2026 and struggled during minor league rehab, allowing 17 ER in 14.1 IP with decreased velocity (down ~3 mph) and increased pain. He is scheduled to see specialist Dr. Keith Meister for further evaluation.
