Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Endy Rodriguez, 25-year-old catcher and former Pirates cornerstone prospect, was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Joey Bart (10-day IL with left foot infection). Rodriguez missed all of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery on his left elbow after an injury in the Arizona Fall League. He returned in 2025 but played only 18 games before suffering a right hand laceration in April and elbow inflammation in June. At Triple-A this season, Rodriguez batted .221/.326/.301 with 6 doubles, 1 HR, and 16 RBIs in 34 games (20 starts at catcher, 13 at DH). He recorded his first major-league hit in nearly a year during a 7-2 Pirates win over Colorado on Thursday, driving in a pair of runs. Despite injury setbacks, Rodriguez remains a prospect with high upside and positive energy, though he's fighting to prove he can stay healthy and contribute to the Pirates' competitive rebuild.
