Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Casey Mize, 2025 All-Star starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 29, 2026, with a mild right adductor/groin strain. He is eligible to return to the active roster as of May 14-15, 2026. Mize has maintained his pitching volume throughout his layoff with multiple bullpen sessions and live batting practice in Lakeland. Manager AJ Hinch confirmed Mize will not require a minor-league rehab assignment and is expected to start against Toronto on Saturday (May 17). Before the injury, Mize posted a 2.90 ERA with 35 strikeouts and a 1.194 WHIP. Mize reported feeling no pain in his legs and stated his work capacity remains intact. This marks a similar recovery pattern to his hamstring strain recovery last year.
