Caeden Trenkle (note: sources reference "Cade Povich" and "Walker Jenkins" primarily). Based on available information, if this refers to a prospect in the Orioles system: Cade Povich was placed on the 15-day IL due to left elbow inflammation (triceps area). He was forced out of his last start after only 3 innings and 58 pitches on Wednesday. The Orioles have multiple starters on the IL, creating rotation instability. Povich has posted a 5.12 ERA, 8.5% walk rate, and 14.6% strikeout rate over 19 innings in 4 appearances. Manager Craig Albernaz indicated the discomfort is on the outside of the elbow and Povich may receive a cortisone shot. MRI was performed to examine the issue.
Strengths
- + Injury appears to be localized to triceps area rather than core elbow joint
- + May not require extended IL stint
- + Cortisone shot treatment option available
- + Manager indicated optimism about recovery timeline
Weaknesses
- - Left elbow inflammation requiring IL placement
- - Forced out of last start after only 3 innings
- - Poor recent performance metrics (5.12 ERA)
- - Low strikeout rate (14.6%)
- - Elevated walk rate (8.5%)
