Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Sean Murphy, 31-year-old Braves catcher, has been placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 11) with a fractured left middle finger sustained on May 11 during a catcher's interference play against the Dodgers. Manager Walt Weiss confirmed Murphy will miss at least eight weeks, extending into July and potentially beyond the All-Star break. This injury comes just four games into Murphy's 2026 season after he spent the first month-plus recovering from hip surgery. Murphy went 1-for-14 with six strikeouts in his brief return. The Braves signed Sandy León to fill the backup catching role and selected José Azócar to the roster.
